H. Collins has spearheaded a sweeping campaign designed to stem
a new epidemic that poses a critical threat to our nation's youth.
"Cheese"
is an especially dangerous form of heroin that dealers are selling
to children as young as 10.
A combination of Tylenol PM and black tar heroin, "cheese"
is highly addictive ... and has already taken the lives of scores
of children across North Texas, and elsewhere.
To combat this emerging threat, Collins has launched an "anti-cheese"
campaign as part of the Texas
Anti-Drug Program he established several years ago.
An important component of Collins' Today
Foundation, the campaign is:
- educating
communities about the threat "cheese" poses
- equipping
police departments the equipment they need to fight crime
- providing
education and training to former prisoners
"With
perseverance, we can prevent 'cheese' from becoming a national
tragedy," Collins says. "I am committed to marshaling
the resources necessary to save our nation's youth from this deadly
trend.
Making
our streets and schools safe from crimes and drugs is the first
commitment from our government.
As a former member of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice who
oversees the prisons, parole and probation agencies, Collins worked
hard to make sure Texas had enough prisons space to accommodate
all prisoners and while incarcerated that effective policies of
job training and education were implemented.
